Ar Proposal:
Painting is a mental and a spiritual exercise. The process is finished when it’s observed by the viewer, then the circle is complete.
I think we’re going trough a process of reconciliation with figurative, is to look back to look then forward.
The style shown on the "Harlequin Tales" and "Los Continent" is deeply influenced by the Baroque and Mannierism, the first one rich, dramatic, theatrical the second one extremely idealistic, impossible in real life. Thus, it becomes a search for a new depiction of feelings using a symbolic and idealistic language rather than copying everyday life the way we usually see it.
The second influence is the work of Frederick Hart and the Idealistic School of Contemporary Representational Art. Hart has shown us mostly on his master piece on the Washington Cathedral’s Tympanum that it is possible to transmit the ideas of Teilhard de Chardin and the evolution of human kind, showing it on the most idealistic and overwhelming way possible. Energy into matter, matter into mind, mind into spirit.
The purpose of the body of work is to blend these influences with honesty and certain spontaneity, depicting different atmospheres and emotions. To me painting describes the world of the ideas, that’s the reason of this fantastic characters and places whom might be a reflection of ourselves on an ideal world rather than being an accurate mirror.
A world poured on a canvas is not only a representation. It exist already, is there on the canvas, is something that can be perceived by the eye. When it enters the mind and soul, it creates a continuity of the idea in the viewer whom at the same time uses the image as a tool to create or complete his own fantastic world. We are free to imagine and to travel within ourselves. Because of this, the goal is to create magical atmospheres with a message yet to be discovered.
Leonor Fini once said: “I paint what I want to see” I agree with her.
